“Analysis of natural and pharmaceutical products”
Prof. Yacine Badjah Hadj Ahmed obtained his Doctorate in applied organic chemistry in 1987 from the Chemistry Institute of U.S.T.H.B. (Algiers, Algeria). He taught chemistry in U.S.T.H.B. from 1975 to 2007, and then he joined King Saud University (Riyadh, Saudi Arabia) staff as Professor in analytical chemistry. His research activity mainly focused on development of chromatographic and spectroscopic methods and their application in various fields. Among his research topics, he contributed to preparation and improvement of original stationary phases for both GC and LC, based on new and original materials such as monolithic polymers, carbon nanotubes, graphene and metal-organic frameworks (MOFs). His research group worked also on miniaturization of chromatographic techniques according to green chemistry rules (capillary columns, micro-LC, nano-LC, fast GC). In the field of mass spectrometry he was interested in development of LC-MS/MS and GC-MS/MS methods for determination of traces in various matrices (pesticides, phthalates, hydrocarbons,…). Also, several research projects were carried out on application of DART-ToF-MS for rapid and eco-friendly investigation of various analytes (drugs, PAHs, PCBs, natural products, polymers,…).
