Abstract:
This study presents a comprehensive overview of microgrid systems. Fundamental concepts of microgrids are introduced, followed by a discussion of renewable energy sources commonly integrated into microgrids. Power electronic converters employed in microgrid applications are systematically examined, including buck, boost, buckâboost, bidirectional, and back-to-back converter topologies. Furthermore, control strategies for power converters in microgrids are analyzed, with emphasis on proportionalâintegralâderivative control (PID), sliding mode control (SMC), and fuzzy logic control (FLC). Energy storage technologies within microgrids are also investigated, focusing on battery systems, hydrogen-based storage, and supercapacitor applications. Finally, a review of relevant published literature is provided to highlight recent developments and research trends in the field.
